Patio de Sao Pedro (St. Peter's Square)
Recife
The union of the nineteenth century houses and the grandiosity of the Concatedral de Sao Pedro dos Clérigos (Church of Saint Peter of Clerics) give to the architectural set a portuguese characteristic.
This spacious pedestrianized public square is bordered by a more than ample selection of restaurants and bars, although it is the wonderful architecture of the Concatedral de Church of Saint Peter of Clerics that draws the eye, dominating the Patio de Sao Pedro with its twin bell towers and detailed wooden carvings.
The Well-preserved colonial buildings rim the old square. Portuguese, Dutch, and Spanish style buildings stand alongside the historic place.
At the Patio there are several museums, restaurants, memorials, churches and cultural and artistic centers. Is also the stage of presentations of artistic groups.
Is one major place for such festivities. It is here where the blocos take route from the Praca Manuel Pinheiro to this square.
