Description

Depart from Boa Viagem, Pina or Piedade at 15:00 and cruise the waters of the Capibaribe River in Recife, known as the 'Brazilian Venice' for its many waterways. Sail to the islands of Santo Antonio, Recife Antigo and Boa Vista, passing under 5 bridges: Bridge September 12 (Ponte 12 de Setembro), Maurício de Nassau Bridge, Bridge Manuel Buarque de Macedo, Elizabeth Bridge and the Duarte Coelho Bridge. Enjoy views of the city sights as you sail, including the Francisco Brennand Sculpture Park and Marco Zero Square, where a small marker indicates the spot where the Portuguese founded Recife in 1537. Admire the colonial facades of buildings such as the Paço Alfândega (Customs Palace) and Ginásio Pernambucano (Pernambuco Gymnasium). Continue past the Legislative Assembly, the Teatro Santa Isabel and the decadent houses of Rua da Aurora. Hear stories about Recife as you cruise, and end in Marco Zero Square, where you can take souvenir photos and shop for handicrafts in the old town.
