Dona Lindu Park was opened in December 2008 on the beachfront in Boa Viagem district (Setubal) and has grown into the preferred family leisure, sports and arts complex for local residents and visitors. It was long fought for by local residents as the only green area suitable as a municipal park in the area and situated right behind Boa Viagem beach.
For leisure, it offers two ample, modern and safe childrens' playgrounds, exercise areas, walking and cycling paths, a purpose-built skateboard bowl and multi-use sports court and grass and open areas for relaxation and picnics.
It has a manned tourist information and ticket office in the central area and security personnel.
Many shows, dance and music festivals, exhibitions and family attractions, often free to the public, can be seen in the modern 'Luiz Mendonça' Theatre (its stage can rotate) and the 'Janete Costa' Art Gallery, both designed by the renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niermeyer (1907-2012).
