In the XIXth century, the place was confiscated by the State government and transformed into the Customs of Pernambuco (between 1826 until the beginning of the XXth Century).
When the port was moved to the current city, the building continued to be used as a warehouse for sugar. The new mall houses leisure, culture and some good restaurants.
It´s located in the Recife neighborhood, the oldest one in the city. This is where everything started in the XVth century at the natural port. Early in the XX century, many places was submitted to a great reform that involved the construction of several luxurious buildings.
You can have a good view of the Capibaribe River and its bridges from the main terrace. Next door, you can visit the wonderful Livraria Cultura bookstore.
