The Real Hospital Portuguêsde Benefiência (RHP) in Pernambuco was created in 1855, by the Portuguese doctor Dr. José D'Almeida Soares Lima Bastos.
The Hospital RHP is strategically located in one of the major avenues of Recife, The Agamemnon Magalhães avenue is the main access route between the South and North zones of the city. The medical center also has an Advanced Unit for emergency care in Boa Viagem Neighborhood.
It stands out as the first medical center in kidney, heart and bone marrow transplants. Constant investments in advanced equipment and highly sophisticated medical instruments, make the RHP one of the most modern medical centers in Brazil.
With building area of 117,736 m2, the RHP is a real city. It has 898 beds and performs monthly about 18 thousand emergencies, 2,300 hospitalizations and more than 2,000 surgeries. Directly employs about four thousand people. Inside the hospital complex works 55 specialty clinics and four laboratories.
More unit services
In order to improve service capacity and improve the delivery of health services to patients of south zone, the Hospital opened in June 2008, the new Advanced Unit Boa Viagem (UABV), located at the avenue Conselheiro Aguiar, 2502.
The unit offers emergency care, with complete infrastructure, in general practice, orthopedics and pediatrics, and a laboratory support.
