Bom Jesus Street Fair

Recife

Normally street fairs have all the same sort of items, with small variations. Here this is not the case, as each stand really puts an effort into being unique.

The Bom Jesus Street receives every Sunday a street fair for handcraft, souvenirs and other unique articles which make it even more delightful to spend an afternoon in this area.

This fair was devised as a way to breathe more life and movement in Recife Old Town on Sundays (when companies close and streets get empty). The strategy worked and today this is one of the most enjoyable fairs in town. First for its location: the charming Bom Jesus Street which is filled with history and culture for visitors to discover; and second for its articles: there are notably less stands available, which means that the items sold are more exclusive and unique. Prices, nonetheless, are still quite fair.

Here you'll find good samples of fine arts, decor, jewelry, pottery, items in leather, iron, bronze, china, sculptures and much more available in each one of the little red stands along the street.

This can be the perfect ending for your day at Recife Old Town, after strolling in the shopping mall, or a good place to start, if you want to stay for longer and have a drink around here.
